Could my cat have died from carbondioxide inhalation because he was closed up in a room without air conditioni
Maybe that sounds silly but just hear me out. So I am an exchange student
living in Spain. A couple of nights ago l went to sleep and my cat was
breathing a little rapidly. l do not know why l did not think anything of
it, but l went to sleep. When l left in the morning he was all right, but
when l got home l found him dead. My host father says that it is because
of the carbon dioxide, and that l could have died in my sleep. They said
it builds up and because l never opened the windows and always had the window coverings closed that it built up and that l could have died along with my cat. Am l stupid to be skeptical of this or stupid to be hesitant to be skeptical? Note that the room is completely closed off. Maybe I am dumb but l had no idea something like that could happen. /> l researched ont he internet about breathing problems within cats and l found a lot, like lung infections (which are apparently prevalent in young animals), lung diseases, and a lot of other stuff. Also, because my room was closed off, a lot of humidity built up, like my windows would all be fogged up and everything, and as a result, some kind of fungus built up on the walls and around the window. It is all over our house but only a little bit, there was A LOT on my wall. l had no idea what it was, l tried to clean it but l couldn't, my host father cleaned it today with something with bleach or something. But could this have given him a lung infection? Or is it my fault for locking him in my room with not enough air? />thanks. well l guess l had to learn the hard way that you have to bleach the walls and open the windows in spain. in america we never do that... l really wish l had known better, my little cat wouldnt have died...
Yes, it is very likely that ur cat died because of lack of
healthy air in the room. Where I live you must also open the windows at
least a bit in the winter or you will get mold growing all over ur walls,
causing asthma & other lung problems [in people, never studied about cats
in school].
It is a good thing that ur host father cleaned the wall with bleach to kill the mold & fungi living in ur room -- yuck! -- & now you know to keep ur window cracked all the time to get outside air in.
